Seton Community Complex

Seton Community Complex: Youth Center was founded in August of 2022 by a group of young

adults who saw a gap in services in their community and wanted to see a change happen.

Founded by Paige Cox, Michael Cox, and Jason Bernard. Seton Community Complex is located

on the beautiful island of Cape Breton. It is a completely volunteer run organization comprised of

Volunteers from over 5 different countries that make up the beautiful cultural mosaic highlighted

among our volunteers.

It is important to acknowledge where we began; the North Sydney Food Bank Society proudly

supports Seton Community Complex. Because of them, we were able to become established

and achieve what we what we have in such a brief period.

A word from our Youth Programming Coordinator: Paige Cox

“When I try to think of something that gives me joy with the youth center, allows me to look at all

these hours as a volunteer and say "yes", this is why I do this. There are so many different

moments that pop into my head. I honestly think the biggest thing for me and why I do what I do

is because we teach our youth many valuable skills. They teach us so much as well.

Kids do not see differences, disabilities, Speech impediments or cultures. All the youth care

about is this person standing in front of me who wants to play and interact with me. It is from

kids that we, as adults, can understand and learn the value of acceptance and treating one

another with kindness.

One night I asked one of my programs, If I could give them one wish, the power to change one

thing in the world, what would they change? This was their response:

1. Global warming

2. World peace

3. Make sure every store has something that everyone can eat

4. Buy happiness

5. Solve world hunger

6. Free chicken nuggets for everyone

7. Make sure people that are homeless get shelter

8. Give food to the homeless people

9. End pollution

10. Make sure that trees are healthy because they produce our air

11. Protect our planet

12. Put things in the garbage

13. Make sure everyone gets what they need to live

14. Everyone gets fed.

15. Everyone gets equal rights.

16. Soccer

We are so lucky that the young generation is so kind, caring, and giving. I honestly believe that

this generation will change the world.
